Me and my dad spent 3 whole days at Camp Mak-A-Dream this summer filming a music video during the Kid's Camp session. It features a brand new song too which is titled "Grab This Day" and it is performed by Montana's own, Kent Curtiss.
Camp Mak-A-Dream is a wonderful facility that is located about an hour east of Missoula, Montana. Their mission is to provide a medically supervised, cost-free Montana experience, in an intimate community setting, for children, young adults and families affected by cancer.
Please join me in support of this Camp and enable a child with cancer to experience a week of adventure and wonderful memories. You'll be glad you did. Visit www.campdream.org to see how you can help.

One of my real good friends is Forrest Gump. I met him in the Bitterroot Valley near Hamilton, Montana. I was hiking around up on the hill when I saw this guy sitting on a bench. He had a real funny haircut, a yellow suit, and some luggage. He said he was Forrest Gump and he was waiting for the Number 9 bus. I kind of thought he might have eaten too many chocolates, 'cuz there isn't a Number 9 bus in the Bitterroot Valley. Well, I hiked with him down to my house and then had my chauffer, Casey, drive him home. Since that day, Forrest and I have gone hiking in the Bitterroot Mountains many times. We even hiked up to some lakes and caught a bunch of trout. When I'm not being a movie star, Forrest and I will be going hiking again this year. |
It might be hard to believe, but some dogs really can talk. I'm living proof. When I was a puppy I just barked and growled. However, when I was a couple years old something strange began to happen. Whenever I tried to bark, this noise came out of my mouth that sounded just like what comes out of humans. Initially, I just thought I was going through puberty. But it kept getting worse. I was in the kitchen getting ready for dinner one night when something outrageous happened. My mom was making my dinner, just as she always does. She placed my bowl on the floor and started to walk off. Just then my mouth opened and out of it came a loud, unusual sound "What's this, the same old dry dog food again! Come back here and cook me a steak!" My mouth no more than closed when I heard a blood curdling scream coming out of my mom. All four of my feet were running, but I wasn't going anywhere on that slick linoleum. After what seemed like an eternity, my nails finally scratched through the floor and gave me the traction I needed to high tail it to safety. On my way up over the couch I heard my mom let loose again with, "Oh, my gosh, the dog can talk!"
Well, after graduating from high school I enrolled in acting school. I starred in several films and even received an academy award for my movie, "The Golden Bone." A couple years later I was being interviewed by this middle school boy named Hunter Goligoski. Come to find out, he is from my hometown of Hamilton, Montana. During the filmed interview, Hunter told me that he is my voice. That's right, Hunter proved to me that he is the reason I can talk. He has apparently been doing voice overs for me for years without me being aware. I was upset at first. I really was! But then, Hunter and I got to be best friends. Now, we are inseparable, and we make one heck of a team. Sometimes, I look in the mirror when nobody is around, and see if I can talk by myself. I can't yet, but I haven't lost hope. |
Many of you, especially those who aren't from Montana, are probably wondering how I got my unusual name. Well, I was born on Easter, so my parents named me after the Easter bunny... kinda, sorta. Would you believe, Jack Rabbit? Yep, that's where the Jack comes from. And, obviously, I'm a beagle and a pretty handsome one too. So, now we have Jack and Beagle. The only word left to explain is Bitterroot. The Bitterroot is a plant that has a gorgeous pinkish flower. Local Indian tribes used to eat the roots of these plants. The Bitterroot is our state flower as well. Also, the beautiful Bitterroot Valley and Bitterroot Mountains where I live and hike in Western Montana are named after the plant. So there you have it. Now you know why I was named Jack the Bitterroot Beagle. |
